On occasion of World Oral Health Day today (20th March), the World Dental Federation (FDI) has released an e-book to educate children about keeping their teeth healthy.

Here is a synopsis of the book:

‘The Tooth Thief’ is an illustrated children’s book that aims to instil good oral habits for children at a young age. 

The book follows the story of Mascarpone, a mouse detective, as he travels around the world trying to solve the mystery of the missing teeth. In his quest he meets different characters such as the Tooth Fairy, la Petite Souris from France, and the tooth spirits in Africa, who will teach him about many traditions in different regions of the globe. The book also includes 10 steps to improve healthy smiles to ensure children learn about the importance of a healthy oral routine which will help them in preventing oral health problems in the future.

The book is in epub format. For those who do not have experience with this, here are some tips for viewing the e-book:

  1. For Apple devices like the iPad, iPhone, MacBook or iMac: Just download and open the ebook in the free app, iBooks. This app is made by Apple and can also be downloaded for free from the App Store.
