Surgery
Broadly speaking surgery is a field demanding long standing hours while conducting surgeries, immense patience and precision in conducting procedures. Doctors interested in a more hands-on method of practice can choose this field. There are multiple super specializations one can opt for post the specialization in surgery e.g. urosurgery, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, paediatric surgery etc.
Gynaecology and Obstetrics
Gynaecology is a branch which deals with conditions specific to the female reproductive system. It is paired up with the field of obstetrics which deals with the clinical aspect of pre-natal, natal and post-natal medical conditions. It entails dealing with medical as well as surgical aspects of labour.
Orthopaedics
Orthopaedics is the branch which deals with the skeletal system of the body. It is dominated by male physicians owing to the immense strength needed in conducting orthopaedic surgeries. It entails the medical as well as the surgical therapeutics of musculoskeletal disorders.
Internal Medicine
It deals with systemic functioning of the body in adult patients. Physicians especially focus on infectious diseases, lifestyle disorders and often function as primary care
Paediatrics
It deals with disorders affecting children right from birth up to adolescence.
Psychiatry
It studies mental disorders of people from all age groups. Counselling and medications play a key role in psychiatric therapy.
Radiology
This branch involves investigating the disease and making comments by studying the films generated via X-ray, CT scan, MRI and USG, PET-CT etc. One has to make very minute and fine judgement based on the signs displayed by a 2- dimensional picture in shades of black and white.
Anaesthesia
This branch deals with sedation of patients for conduction minor as well as major surgical procedures. An anesthetist is a must for every surgery and often in diagnostic procedures.
Ophthalmology
This is a field which concerns itself with disorders of the eyes and vision. It deals with operations on the eye as well drugs to maintain optimal vision in all age groups.
ENT
Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) is another filed which works and deals only with concerns of the Ear, Nose and the Throat. It deals with all medical as well as surgical therapeutic options for the same.
